ED arrests Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam in ₹35 crore cash recovery case
There have been widespread demonstrations in Kolkata today, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organizing a march to Swasthya Bhavan to protest against the rising cases of Adenovirus infection, infant deaths, and the perceived poor state of the healthcare system.
Several prominent leaders, including Agnimitra Paul and Tanuja Chakraborty, participated in the rally. However, the police stopped the BJP rally near Karunamoyee, leading to a scuffle between the party members and law enforcement.
Reports suggest that Tanuja Chakraborty fell ill during the rally, and there are also allegations of a BJP worker being beheaded. As a result, the police detained many BJP leaders and workers.
During the Vidhansabha session, the BJP demanded an explanation from CM Mamata Banerjee on the Adenovirus situation. Simultaneously, there was a heated demonstration outside the session following its adjournment. The BJP has accused the state government of concealing the actual number of cases.
